Tumps around Leek (4th March 2017)

I spent a day in the countryside around Leek, ticking off eight more Staffordshire Tumps in warm, sunny weather.

Edale skyline (4th February 2017)

I made the most of a sunny winter day by heading to the Dark Peak for an anticlockwise 20-mile round of the Edale skyline, starting in Hope.

Tumps near Stafford (28th January 2017)

I spent a few hours visiting a few Tumps west and northwest of Stafford; they’re not close enough together to sensibly connect on foot so a series of short walks and intervening drives was the order of the day!

More Staffordshire Tumps (22nd-23rd October 2016)

I continued my exploration of Staffordshire (and its Tumps!) with a short post-orienteering walk near Tamworth on Saturday and a much longer walk over the forested hills west of Trentham on Sunday.

Staffordshire Tumps (8th-9th October 2016)

With an empty weekend in my diary, I decided to tick off some of my closest unbagged Tumps in Staffordshire, walking from Cheadle on Saturday and Cauldon Lowe on Sunday.

Crowden (4th September 2016)

With improving weather forecast, I headed to the far north of the Peak District to tick off my final three Derbyshire Tumps with two short walks near Glossop and a big loop north from Crowden.

My colleague Aditya suggested an evening walk in the Peak District. We opted for a few miles’ circuit from Alstonefield into upper Dovedale.

Upper Derwent Valley (8th May 2016)

For today’s walk I headed to the Upper Derwent Valley, starting at Ashopton and heading north over the moors and back down the valley beside the river and reservoirs. Summer is definitely on its way – temperatures reached 25C in the valley today.

Parents’ visit (9th-10th April 2016)

Mum and Dad visited me in Derbyshire. We enjoyed two good walks in sunshine in the Peak District, exploring Gun and the Roaches on Saturday and Monsal Dale and Longstone Moor on Sunday.

Tumps near Dronfield (13th February 2016)

A grey day didn’t merit a higher-level outing so I visited another obscure corner of Derbyshire to tick of some Tumps, this time south of Dronfield. 124 down, only 3 to go!

Today’s 36km walk around Buxton took in three of my remaining Derbyshire Tumps, as well as the better known landmarks of Black Edge, Monk’s Dale and Chee Dale.
