This year’s Brass Band Annual Dinner was held at Churchill College, with pre- and post-dinner drinks in the college bar. Unfortunately being midway through my exams meant that I couldn’t/didn’t stay too late, but it was a good evening nevertheless!

This year’s CUHWC Annual Dinner was held in the Prioress’ Room at Jesus College. We enjoyed an excellent meal in excellent company, followed by speeches by the outgoing and incoming presidents. Afterwards we had cocktails in the Maypole, then returned to my room for port, Cow-Song-singing etc!

The day after our Brass Band formal, I was back at Jesus for the first Hillwalking Club formal of the year. Afterwards we all squeezed into Will’s room on Maid’s Causeway!

Jenny organised a formal hall for the Brass Band at Jesus College. Afterwards we went to the pub quiz at The Bun Shop, and then to Chris’s room in Magdalene.

I went to Corpus May Ball – ‘Sensation’ – with some friends from the hillwalking club. Not very many photos though!

The band held its traditional May Week barbecue on Jesus Green.

This year’s CUHWC Garden Party was in Newnham College gardens, with a fine spread of food and drink produced by Ruth and Olivia, and garden games to try out. Afterwards, most of us went night punting to Grantchester and back, and had a barbecue on the meadows.

I spent the day down by the Cam watching the third day of the ‘May Bumps’ rowing races.

It was the hottest May day in 50 years (well, it was in London anyway), so a few of us from the band – actually just a selection of this year and next year’s committees! – decided to take an evening off from revision for a punt along the backs. N.B. Jenny was there too, but seems to have avoided being photographed!

I decided to do a Sunday walk to Ely – something I had meant to do last year but never quite got around to! I took the obvious route beside the River Cam, and looked around the famous cathedral before catching the train back to Cambridge.
