Heading to the Peak District for the first time in months, I did a four-hour walk from Hayfield along the eastern skyline from William Clough over Kinder Low and Brown Knoll to Mount Famine.

For the final three days of the trip, we headed to Glen Dessarry at the head of Loch Arkaig, ticking off three more Corbetts with a bothy night at A’ Chuil and a semi-wild camping night by the lochside. Sunday morning was particularly rewarding with a fine cloud inversion around Sgurr Mhurlagain.

After four consecutive days’ backpacking, we fancied an easier day, so opted for a half-day walk up the moorland Corbett of Carn a’ Chuilinn, above Fort Augustus.

With the great weather continuing, we continued straight into another backpacking expedition, traversing five very fine Corbetts and Grahams on the fringes of Knoydart, including the impressive and highly prized Ben Aden.

We then spent a couple of days backpacking on Rum, traversing all the major peaks of the Rum Cuillin to camp near Harris on Sunday night, and returning to Kinloch via the lower Marilyn of Orval on Monday.

This year’s Spring Bank Holiday week in the Highlands started with an excellent day on the three Corbetts south of Glenfinnan, the highlight being Sgurr Ghiubhsachain with its excellent views over Loch Shiel into Moidart.

Ruth and I tackled the Welsh 3000ers challenge: a long linear walk from Pen-y-Pass over the Snowdon range, Glyderau and Carneddau to Bwlch y Ddeufaen, taking in the 16 Welsh Nuttalls over 3000ft.

I met up with Old Duffers and a few much younger Dufflings for a weekend in the Shropshire Hills. Staying at YHA Ironbridge Coalport, we enjoyed walks on the Long Mynd and the Wrekin.

I helped Georgia and some of her colleagues attempt a round of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Only Georgia and I made it beyond the second peak, but still a great sunny day in the hills!

I organised a trip to Snowdonia with friends from Rolls-Royce Derby Band. We all walked up Snowdon in sunshine on the Saturday. A few of us then walked up Cnicht in drizzle on the Sunday!

Ruth and I spent the Easter weekend ticking off a few of the less inspiring Corbetts in the Eastern Cairngorms. Luckily it was snowy to make them more interesting!

I spent a long weekend with my parents in Minehead. We enjoyed local walks on the North Devon coast, above Minehead, and on the Quantocks.

I spent a long weekend in the Southern Uplands to visit Will and Annelies and explore some of their local hills, including three Grahams and a Marilyn.

After a brisk morning parkrun at Conkers, the weather was too good not to head out again for an afternoon walk! I headed up Dovedale from Thorpe to Milldale, returning via the pastures to the west.

Ruth came to visit the South Derbyshire Duffers for the weekend. After a morning dash around Rosliston parkrun, we had time for a Saturday afternoon walk on Stanton Moor and Robin Hood’s Stride. On the Sunday, we were joined by Phil Withnall for a longer walk around the Lower Edale skyline.

I visited Ian and Emma for the weekend. We enjoyed two contrasting walks: an ascent of Ingleborough from Clapham in falling snow on the Saturday, and a snowy round of the Coledale Horseshoe in sunshine on the Sunday.

Breaking with our ten-year tradition of heading to the Highlands for New Year (due to the arrival of several ‘Dufflings’), the Duffers instead spent a week in the more accessible hills of Snowdonia, staying in a large house near Caernarfon. My walks included old favourites on the Carneddau and Glyderau, a traverse of the Nantlle Ridge, and a few new Marilyns on the wetter, windier days!

As usual, I spent Christmas in Minehead with Ruth and my parents. We did a few local afternoon strolls.

I headed to the Dark Peak in search of snow, and found plenty on my walk from Grindleford over Stanage Edge, Offerton Moor and Eyam Moor.

Ruth and I spent a long weekend in the southern Higlands around Crieff, ticking off three Corbetts and a Graham, and re-visiting a couple of Munros. We also enjoyed the first underfoot snow of the winter!
